Book two of the series is as good as the first book. In this book we find out the who and why of the destruction and attack of America. This book also made me think about our military and the things they have to do to get information. An intriguing read that makes you think and wonder. Lots of action in this book!

This was a good, fast read. Ended up buying all the books in the series.

I pride myself on leaving useful reviews & I made the mistake of just trying to catch up on reviews w/ the same review for a large number of free ebooks I'd downloaded. As in the 1st book of the series this one is fast paced and chaotic. Now it's getting hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys. The story's gotten complicated and I found it necessary to go back and re-read some pages just to be sure what's going on. The book ends with your people in crisis again. I will buy the 3rd book be cause it's a good story and I'm very involved with the characters by now. I want to find out how it ends.

Oldie but Goodie

Having had this book around the house for ages, I picked it up and to my surprise within a few minutes really understood (not just enough to use, but actually understood) what logarithms really are, where they come from. The chapter on e, pi, and i is another great one to get the story behind the story, as it were. For me the book could better have continued in this vein of explaining concepts we've seen before but never really grasped intuitively, and perhaps because I'm not terribly interested in mathematical games I found that segment less fun. But in fairness, they've done a good job getting away from textbook math and into some interesting themes. I don't know if it's all still valid, as it is so old--references to Fermat's last theorem are at least outdated!

This book came to me by chance.Instantly got my attention.It is written in such a way,that makes interesant to travel through different chapters.In each one you have the mathematical theme mixed with stories , mathematicians histories and puzzles.You learn about people with the greatest imagination.Their personality and a lot of other things,that make you enjoy the reading,no matter if you love mathematics or you have hated it all the time.I've enjoyed specially the chapter about Mathematical Analysis,with the story about rivalry between the egocentric Newton and the humble Leibnitz. This book is the opportunity to learn that mathematics are not the boring thing we have learned at school.

My school teacher gave me this book to read when I was 13 years old, based on the interest I showed in Mathematics that went beyond the curriculum at school. In many ways it was way beyond my comprehension at the time, but little did I know that it would have such a lasting effect on me. Reading about concepts of infinity, that you could only describe to a fellow teenager as "different sizes of infinity", I realized that there really is a philosophy of mathematics that transcends all other subjects and that there is also an art to working with the subject. I can't recommend this book enough, and I never did give it back to my teacher!

Whose Opinion Counts Most?

A delightful book that ponders the eternal question of who we are and who we can become. Can a mole fly? Like the oracles of old, the answers can be cryptic, ending up not quite what we suppose. This book was a gift from good friends. I bought a copy for my niece and her two young boys--it's never to late or too soon to contemplate some things.

Few books have the rare soul-poetry of expression this does.

I found this little book by accident, visiting somewhere, and read it only because I had nothing else to do at that moment. I don't normally even read much fiction anymore and am not given to sappy love stories.
Yet this book reached in and grabbed my heart like nothing I've ever read. It's the kind of soul-level writing that once in a great while an author is a conduit for... I'm not sure writing at this level is really a brain thing of the person, more an internal thing of the spirit. I can't talk about the plot or the information or things I would normally review in a book. It is just a story; it is a story for a person of any age; it is a better story for those who have ever known love, or known longing, or found themselves the outcast, or found inside themselves the powerful dharma of being what one is as "I AM"... in this case, he was in love.
Not only did the book hold me in a poet/dreamer thrall throughout, and make me cry in sadness and joy, and laugh out loud at many small insights or comments, but hours and even days later, my whole interpretation of my world had more... poetry to it. More color, more eloquence; as if for a time, that love and energy gave ME more poetry; a new way of looking at all things with love. (I know. This is embarrassing. But read in the right state of mind, it's a very cool book.)
I'm buying the book now so I'll have my own copy. I want to suggest to people that I love that they read it. It's like a gift I want to give. I recommend the book very much.

From the first sentence I was drawn to the writing.

One of my great joys in life is reading short stories. I love science fiction and fantasy. My special joy, however, is the fairy tale. In "The Mole and the Owl" I have found the pure essence of fairy tales. The true and pure love of the mole and his selfless heroism, the sacrifice of the owl and the actions of the wolf are magical. This story tells about all things noble and makes me believe I can be just that noble. A great story is a great story but there is something that can be added to the telling. The lyrical use of prose in this story is almost unbelievable. It sings to me like a favorite song. Ray Bradbury is the only writer I have read with an idea of prose that even comes close to comparison. I am rarely moved the way I was moved by this story. I cried. I never cry when I read. It's just a story. But still I cried.
