Course Textbook that was an enjoyable read

Santino's book is an excellent broad spectrum analysis on the cultural interpretations behind the holidays that we celebrate. The level of detail the author goes into regarding not only the holidays, but the seasons surrounding them is quite in-depth. I enjoyed this book not only because it was a required textbook for a course I was taking, but also because of how informative the book was overall.

STEPS OF GRACE: A BRILLIANT WRITING OF INSIGHT AND HUMOR

Steps of Grace is one of the best records of an individual's discovery of the Catholic Church. Mr. Gonzales is a brilliant man, who writes with total honesty and wit. I particularly enjoyed and have re-read several times the chapter dealing with well-meaning but very suspicious and sometimes paranoid anti-Catholic writers; the pages dealing with the outrageously inaccurate tracks by one writer in particular was very humorous, and ultimately, very revealing about anti-Catholic writers and their distortion about Catholic beliefs and practices. I look forward to more writings of Doug Gonzales.

I enjoyed the author's candid and honest account of a journey that is not yet finished. His devotion to the quest of finding out what God wants for him leads him beyond what church officials dictate. The author displays a passion for life, faith, and a courage to seek a deeper understanding of the spiritual that is so often missing in today's society.
