About the Author
Dr. Janet Woititz was the author of several books, including the seminal Adult Children of Alcoholics , and led the movement that made “adult child” a household name. She passed away in 1994. Lisa Woititz managed Dr. Woititz’s Institute for Counseling and Training for a number of years and has worked in the mental health, substance abuse, and criminal justice fields.

Totally loved this book! I couldn't put it down until I finished it. A beautifully written resource full of useful information for anyone who has ever lived with and/or survived the chaos of addiction in their family. This book provides an amazing opportunity to learn how to move forward, forgive and be more cognizant of our personal power to change our family dynamic. All this done through the real life story of the author with intimate details of the pain, shame, and loss in her own personal family. A book not just for those choosing to break cycles of addiction behaviors in their family but anyone looking for the inspiration and courage to make a difference in the lives of the people they love! FABULOUS!

This book is really helping me to understand why I acted as I did as a parent. I would love to give a copy to my adult kids. It has helped me to understand myself and my origins much better. I love how she says adult children do not have to stay stuck in the roles they have made for themselves. Encouraging and empowering.
